This hotel has so much character especially in a place full of soulless mega resorts. It’s equestrian / cowboy themed and you feel like you are having a unique Hawaii experience when staying here. The rooms are well appointed and fit the theme with wooden furniture and horse-themed decor. The staff were extremely kind and accommodating. We used the beach towels, chairs and hospitality shower during our stay, which was very convenient. There was also live music one night we were there and it was perfect to accompany a drink at the bar. It’s located close to a few more local beach which was perfect, and just our speed. That being said, it’s easy to walk into Waikiki or to Ala Moana. There are a few coffee shops and an ABC store nearby too.

We had a really pleasant stay at The Equus. The location was perfect — very quiet at night, yet only a 15–20 minute walk to Ala Moana and downtown Waikiki. We received a welcome drink on arrival, and were pleasantly surprised to be allowed check-in early, which was a lovely bonus after a long journey. The hotel has a charming, boutique feel with a more personal, local vibe than a big resort. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout. The bed was very comfortable, and while the room was simple, it had everything we needed. The water refill station in the lobby and beach towel service were also appreciated.

Simple but very comfortable. It was very close to our work/event location The Prince Waikiki. Walking distance to the Ala Moana Mall. Plenty of food options. Close to the Ala Moana Mall. There was a small, intimate bar on the first floor. They gave us complimentary drink per person which was really good (the punch- forgot the name) They had an acoustic singer that Saturday which was a treat after a long work day. He sang really well and song selection was great. If you want a relaxing night - far from the crowded, noisy Waikiki beach.. this is a great option!

The staff, Lincoln, Renee, and Wilfred were the best with regards to hospitality. Good energy, mannerable, and responsive. Took care of hot water issue, carried and stored .y luggage, gave me extra cookies 😋. The hallway lighting was poor, especially for the safety of women and singles. Rooms on first appearance are esthetically appealing, but the furnishings are worn and dated. However, it did not detract from my comfort. Mattresses could also be upgraded. Only stayed one night, so it's not bad for duration and value.

The position was great for car rental and public transport with CBD so handy for a stroll. The bed was the most comfortable on our trip to the two islands we visited. What really impressed was the atmosphere created by the helpful staff and being helped manage bags up the entry steps from the roadway to lobby by a gentleman we later found out was the owner.
